General information to cover your initial curiosity and basic questions.  If you want to know anything else, we are experts in the patent field, and always happy to help.

How long does it take to file my patent?

It takes us 1-4 weeks to file depending on the complexity of your invention. It really depends on case by case, but you can use this as a general rule.

I want my product to say “Patent Pending”, what does this mean?

After we have filed your patent with the intellectual property office, this means your product is patent pending and you are free to put this on your product. In some cases this will deter others from copying your product.

How long does it take for my patent to be approved?

This is a difficult question. It takes as long as is necessary to pass all of the objections of the patent examiner assigned to your case. In general this can take 6-12 months for a Utility Model and it can take 2-4 years for an invention.

What is the difference between a utility model and a patent (invention)?

A utility model is a type of patent that is simplified and used in some countries (such as the Philippines) for a patent that is an improvement on another prior art. This means you improved another patent, and your product is not totally new.

What does your company do?

For this answer you will have to speak with us in detail about your product for us to consult with our attorneys and engineers. The answer we give will be based upon your product

Are the fees quoted the entire fee?

Yes the fees quoted are all-in, we do not charge extra for silly things like photocopying, transport, government fees, etc. What we charge is what you pay.

How long is the patent good for?

A utility model patent is good for 7 years and an invention is good for 20 years.
